I'll give you an example- my living room. 13'6" x 14'7" x 8'6" with the couch against the wall. 7.1.4 makes no sense. but 5.1.2 works perfectly. Now increase that space to 30' x 20' x 10' (my theater room at work) with multiple rows of seating, and 5.1.2 is not adequate.
