I accidentally played the plain dvd instead of the blu-ray when watching Warcraft and the bass was enormously disappointing until I realized and switched discs. I know the blu-ray had Atmos, but I would have thought the bass track (LFE?) would have been the same, but it wasn't.
I got thinking about it again because I just rented the blu-ray for Deepwater Horizon and again, the bass was really weak. I don't have the purchased version to compare it to though.
We rented Star Wars 7 from Redbox while we waited for our purchased copy to arrive and those two sounded identical.
Am I just making this up or is the bass actually that different from DVD to blu-ray and from consumer blu-ray to Redbox blu-ray? Or is it just sometimes? |
