I have a nice living room stereo rig.
I run the TV out, into the preamp.
It needed some tweeking.
I currently have my Mcintosh 107 EQ wired between the TV and the preamp.
Would I achieve better results putting it later in the chain,...
Post the preamp, in between the preamp and the power amp.
Or will I get more noise?
Please note that I am using a Pass Labs "LINE" SIGNAL PREAMP.....AN XP20.
Thanks in advance.

If your only source is the TV then it probably does not matter. If you want to use it for any other source then between preamp and power amp is more typical. Whether or not there is more noise depends upon the gain structure of your system but if the EQ has low enough noise then it should be OK. The EQ's noise will not be reduced by the volume control if it is right before the power amp, however. If it sounds good where it is, and you do not need to EQ any other source, I'd leave it.
