Hello everyone, I'm not really well informed about in-ceiling speakers in general, but on the new house I am building I decided to have a setup on the living room, Best Buy had their recommendations, but I am wondering if I can do better or cheaper, maybe both? Can you guys give me recommendations?
Their recommendtation was:
SpeakerCraft - Profile AIM8 Three 8" In-Ceiling Speaker
SpeakerCraft - CRS Series Profile CRS3 3" In-Ceiling Speaker (Each)
I don' t remember how he had them placed, but I just the AIM8 costs 499 each.
Thanks!

Is there any possible way you could use freestanding speakers for your front 3, and in-ceilings for the surrounds?
Or at the very least, freestanding center speaker, and in-ceilings for the rest?
Have you ever considered ceiling mounted bookshelf speakers?  (Again, mainly for the critical front 3.)
What about in-wall speakers for your front 3?
As you may have guessed from my questions above, using in-ceilings for your front 3 speakers is the absolute worst possible option...you would be better off just buying a couple pairs of wireless headphones, to be honest.  Or even a soundbar with a subwoofer.

And generally speaking, try to avoid buying ANYTHING at Best Buy unless it is being clearanced or otherwise sold at a steep discount.  BB is not a terrible place to go listen to a few speakers, but seldom does it ever live up to its name.
And for the love of god, don't let them sell you any stupid power conditioners or overpriced Monster cables and interconnects.

If you absolutely must do in-ceiling speakers, here are some saner priced options:

These can be used in-wall or in-ceiling:

heheh you're almost getting me there!!! I've got one question, I am not a builder or know anything on how to install any of these, but I went to visit construction of the home, they have the walls up, but not drywall, it doesnt seem to have that much space to fit a speaker into it. Would I have to make a whole on the bricks?
I can possible have the 2 front surround and center being either on the wall or into the wall, not standing.
I agree, BB is a terrible place to find this stuff, I just dont know where to go, because there is a vast array of options and I would like something good, doesn't need to be the best, but good for a decent price, the price BB had seemed to be a bit to high

Wall-mounted bookshelf speakers would be very cost-effective and much, much better-performing than in-ceiling speakers at ANY price.  Plus they're relatively easy to install and wire yourself, no need to make holes in your walls or ceilings.  And when you move, it's very easy to take them with you instead of losing all of your investment.
For example, 3 of these would be $468 shipped, 7 of them would be just $946 shipped:

Combine that with a powerhouse sub like this, and you're all set.
