If I purchase a new receiver that does 5.2.2 atmos and 7.2 surround, can I:
1. Hook up all these speakers at the same time, meaning my back surrounds and my in ceiling atmos speakers at the same time?
2. If yes on 1, do I let the BluRay or UHDVD select which audio output to play?
3. Do I need to have 2 different setting ready to do number 2?
I hope these questions make sense. I'm planning to get either a Yamaha RX-A670, a Denon AVR-X1400H, or an Integra DRX-2.1. I have all the speakers I need as I just purchased some Monoprice 8" in ceiling speakers for my Atmos. I'm planning on doing my wiring in the next couple weeks.
Thanks in advance

1.  The AVR would have to have at least 9 sets of speaker posts to enable both configurations without having to swap out the Rear Surround and Atmos height speakers.  Neither the A670 nor the X1400H can do this as they both only feature 7 sets of speaker posts, rather the A770/X4400H would be the lowest models in their respective brands to meet your use case (no clue about the Integra specs).
2.  No, you do.
3.  Yup.

Thank you for your thoughts. What if I did speaker cable out of back/atmos post to a speaker select box to the back surrounds and to the atmos? Querky I know.

You would only be able to use the on board EQ program (eg. YPAO, Audyssey) to EQ one set of speakers.
Additionally, the A770 is the lowest Aventage model that can EQ the subwoofer.   Just upgrade to the A770 as the lowest cost alternative.
